| Our basic 2 day training program includes the theory of sharpening (the reason why you do what you do to make an object sharp), hands-on your equipment to familiarise you and putting the theory to work for you. Our goal is to teach you to sharpen beveled edge scissors and Japanese style convex scissors, set the tension (balance) and test every scissor. We will supply you with the abrasives, practice scissors and polishing compound to practice your new skills. We will even show you how to approach your prospective new clients and what to tell them. You would need to travel to my location in Central NY State. Bob Treat was a very successful beauty scissor sharpener for numerous years, He has published a book on beauty scissor sharpening and made a video on "Free-Hand" sharpening, He has taught many successful "full-time" sharpeners over the years. He started manufacturing the Master Hone flat hone because other flat hones were too expensive for the person starting out. He has now partnered with one of his former students to offer an "add on" clamp for sharpening. We also teach the use of the clamp. |
