I'm a Professional scissors and knife sharpener and have operated my “onsite”
business for numerous years, while earning an above average income.  When I
started, I had to purchase a machine that would sharpen almost anything from
scissors to delicate surgical instruments.  The only equipment that would do that
is a “flat honing machine”, so I purchased one---$1999.  Now they sell for lots
more.  I now build a Flat Hone machine and would be happy to sell the plans to
you AND include where to get all the parts (Motor, controller, switches etc) how
much you’d pay for them.  Everything is available pre-manufactured including the
box to install the components.

Below is one I built from these plans

It has a powerful DC variable speed and reversible motor and runs on standard
house current, it has a 6” head that is magnetized. The Total Cost for building this
machine was around $550, If you can find used parts it may cost less.  

I have them already built for $1099.
